Very interesting about the early Christian Nationalists and the other side of Billy Penn (what we Philly folks used to call the statue on top of city hall). If you get a chance visit Gwynedd meeting, established in the 1690s, the Quaker meeting I grew up in. The cemetery is very interesting as is the original building.
Oh, I totally will! I also just found out the Paul Robeson Museum is like 6 blocks from where I was living last semester; that's another one on my must-visit list. Thanks so much! (I also may see if the Germantown meeting still exists, just to pay tribute.)
Of course it does. It's at 47 West Coulter Street (which is BTW, a family name). Plymouth Meeting used to have according to my father, the best library in the area. The librarians were charged by HUAC. My grandmother's childhood meeting Solebury in the New Hope area where there is also the Phillips' Mill museum (my grandmother's family's mill). New Hope is beautiful as well as historic.
