What I wanted to share was the proliferation of 12 step programs on line since Covid. I am a compulsive overwater and attend several a week. They are supportive, spiritual, transformative. In person meetings are wonderful but not available to all. On zoom we have people from other countries and states sharing space and support. I don’t know if other 12 step groups are using it as much as we are but it is a blessing to me because I don’t drive anymore. I love your idea hope this helps. Christina Irvin

That's a beautiful one to share, Christina! Thank you so much. I love that this resource is accessible to a whole variety of folks for whom an in person meeting isn't an option.

18 Million Rising is another org that comes to mind (beyond the list that’s already been provided by others)!

They do not have a spiritual component but Nerdfighteria - the group that has formed around the youtube channel Vlogbrothers, fits this criteria otherwise. They started building organically with the start of the youtube channel in 2007 and has grown/shifted over the years. Vlogbrothers is John and Hank Green who do all the things (both are authors, creators of SciShow and Crash Course youtube channels, Hank has been big on TikTok). Most recently nerdfighters helped pressure a corporation into lowering the price and increasing access to TB testing supplies. John and Hank also have a long term partnership with Partners in Health, with a focus on a Center of Maternal Excellence in Sierra Leone and the larger community has also done a lot to support that project. They are cis het white men with lots of privilege, which they name and recognize, and are generally responsive to corrections. All of their recent money-making ventures have all profits going to Partners in Health or another charity. They are appreciative of the community around them and try to leverage the generally progressive nature of their fans into concrete action as well as naming the importance of giving our *attention* to inequalities and issues in our world. From what I know and from my experience, it works. Fun fact: John was a children's hospital chaplain for a summer thinking he was going to be an Episcopal priest. Realized that wasn't for him. He rarely speaks of his faith but it has come up on occasion.

Oh I love this. They were not on my radar. Thanks so much! Also, I feel like anything related to Partners In Health is on some level spiritual. I have seen few organizations practice liberation theology so thoroughly. But it definitely doesn't need to only be spiritual communities; just communities contributing to the common good. What a great suggestion, Sarah. Thank you.

I'm assuming you are already talking to JVP and IfNotNow, AROC, the TPS Coalition, HaitiAction...

1) I was just listening to Levar Burton Reads. Hoping that answers that question. :D (I consider it part of the Star Trek extended universe. :) )

2) I had to look that up...I think that means I failed that test. Although I really need to at least watch the David Tenant era!
